Many studies have reported that certain mushroom extracts can promote tumor cell apoptosis by promoting liberation of cytochrome C. For example, the D fraction isolated from Maitake mushrooms induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells [28]; Suillin extracted from Suillus placidus exhibited significant cytotoxic activities against HepG2 cells [29]; and mushroom polysaccharides isolated from Auricularia auricular, Ganoderma lucidum, and Phellinus linteus also induced apoptosis in human hepatoma cells [30]. Here, CYCS is linked to breast carcinoma.
