Calcitriol is a potential PARP1 inhibitor in diabetic nephropathy and cardiomyopathy models as well as macrophage cell lines (Mabley et al., 2007; Qu et al., 2017; Wang et al., 2020), which allows the observation of a possible relationship between vitamin D and PARP1. The gene discussed is PARP1; the disease is cardiomyopathy.
