The quantitative analysis of CD45+ and CD45+/c-Kit+ populations in the spinal cord by flow cytometry showed that hematopoietic-derived cells were significantly increased by sixfold in the symptomatic SOD1G93A spinal cord relative to Non-Tg, further suggesting the accumulation of blood-born c-Kit+ MC putative precursors into the degenerating spinal cord of ALS mice. Here, PTPRC is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
