A preliminary study on 15 men with metastatic prostate cancer without any autoimmune or immune deficiency condition found that 223Ra treatment was associated with a lower mean percentage of memory CD8+ T cells that express programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-L1), without any change in CD8+ T cells producing IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-13 (80). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is metastatic prostate carcinoma.
