For G6PD-intermediate females based on the 70% activity threshold, the sensitivity of the test was again slightly higher for malaria-positive participants; however, the test’s specificity was lower at 93.8% (95% CI 86.2%–98.0%) as compared to 96.7% (95% CI 95.3%–97.9%) for venous specimens, and 83.5% (95% CI 73.5%–90.9%) as compared to 93.2% (95% CI 91.2%–94.8%) for capillary specimens. This evidence concerns the gene G6PD and malaria.
