Taking into account that BRAF mutated colon cancer tends to have higher expression levels of immunotherapy-related genes, such as PD-1, PD-L1, CTLA-4, and LAG-3, the use of checkpoint inhibitors in the Checkmate-142 trial was favorable and indicated that BRAF mutated colon cancer might present with an immunosuppressive microenvironment, which was in agreement with our conclusion. This evidence concerns the gene LAG3 and malignant colon neoplasm.
