The phosphorus homeostasis is achieved by complex interactions between bone and multiple organs via many hormones including but not limited to parathyroid hormone (PTH), 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) and fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), and most of these insights are derived from human genetic disorders and genetically engineered mice [6, 7]. Here, PTH is linked to hereditary disease.
