Bakhoum et al. (2018) found that in CIN-high breast cancer cells, higher chromosome segregation error-induced cytosolic micronuclei trigger cGAS-STING perinuclear localization and the activation of the noncanonical NF-κB signaling pathways, which is associated with cancer cell migration and invasion (Bakhoum et al., 2018). The gene discussed is CGAS; the disease is cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
