Immunofluorescence staining for the macrophage marker CD64+ in the glomeruli showed augmented numbers of glomerular macrophages in the Twist1-PKO mice compared with WT (Figure 7, E and F), which could have contributed to the exaggerated podocyte injury and glomerulosclerosis in the Twist1-PKO animals. The gene discussed is FCGR1A; the disease is glomerulosclerosis.
