In addition to EGLN1, other genes related to lung function, oxygen use, and angiogenesis had evidence for local adaptation between low‐ and high‐altitude populations: TRPM7, RBPJ, and ENSMMUT00000040566 (Table S2). TRPM7 downregulation in a hypoxia‐induced rat model was associated with pulmonary hypertension (PAH) (Xing et al. 2019). ENSMMUT00000040566 is a MAPK6 ortholog, which interacts with EGLN3 (Rodriguez et al. 2016), and both it and RBPJ are involved in angiogenesis (Ramasamy et al. 2014). This evidence concerns the gene EGLN3 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
