Previous observational studies showed that higher FGF23 was associated with higher risk of major CVDs (Batra et al., 2016), such as hypertension (Fyfe-Johsnon et al., 2016), coronary artery disease (CAD) (Lutsey et al., 2014), myocardial infarction (MI) (Di Giuseppe et al., 2015), atrial fibrillation (AF) (Mathew et al., 2014), and heart failure (HF) (Lutsey et al., 2014). Here, FGF23 is linked to hydrops fetalis.
