In female patients with recent onset schizophrenia and those at ultrahigh risk, oxytocin receptor gene methylation was negatively correlated with anhedonia-asociality, and functional connectivity of striatal-amygdala network was negatively correlated with methylation of the oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR) (Bang et al., 2019), whereas in males, DNA methylation of COMT has been proposed to predict risk of schizophrenia (Gao et al., 2017). Here, OXTR is linked to schizophrenia.
