In this regard, many sarcomas originate from the differentiation of neural crest-derived pluripotent cells [5, 6], and certain genes involved in the differentiation of this main embryological feature, such as Empty Spiracles Homeobox EMX1/EMX2 tumor suppressor genes, have previously been related to repression of sarcomagenesis [4], especially maintaining stem cells in a quiescent state [7–10]. The gene discussed is EMX1; the disease is sarcoma.
