Previous work by our groups have identified a Ca2+ channel-binding domain 3 (CBD3) peptide (sequence ARSRLAELRGVPRGL) from the cytosolic collapsin response mediator protein 2 (CRMP2) with anti-apoptotic/neuroprotective properties in a cellular model of Alzheimer's disease, properties ascribed to the propensity of CBD3 to attenuate excessive influx of Ca2+ and to inhibit apoptosis [21]. This evidence concerns the gene DPYSL2 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
