Figure 8B shows that most of the immunological target proteins—including CCL4, CXCR4, CXCL12, CXCL8, CXCL10, CXCL1, CXCL11, CXCL5, CCL20, and CXCL2—are centrally located in the PPI networks, with top degrees of interaction, indicating that this PPI network is associated with immunological activities. It has been stated that human chemokines are associated with or implicated in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes [30]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
