The inducible forms of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the secretion of NO and PGs, respectively, are shown to participate in the pathogenesis of several diseases including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and atherosclerosis [6,7]. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and neurodegenerative disease.
