Other zebrafish-macrophage-fluorescent reporter lines, such as Tg(mpeg1:eGFP)gl22 [33] or Tg(mpeg1:mCherry)UMSF001 [36], have enabled to track the precise behavior and physiology of these cells in vivo, during inflammatory, cancer or infectious processes, thus providing a highly valuable tool to study their role in the context of these pathologies, and also for the screening of new macrophage-targeted therapeutic approaches, including nanoparticles.
