Consistent with our previous finding showing delayed development of the epidermal skin barrier function in FliiTg/Tg embryonic skin at E17 [8] while reducing Flii decreased HF regeneration in adult rodents [32], the morphological results presented in this study suggest that the majority of FliiTg/Tg basal EpSCs follow symmetrical to develop down HF formation rather than asymmetrical cell division required for epidermal stratification. This evidence concerns the gene FLII and hydrops fetalis.
