The experiments were performed in vivo in human xenograft acute myeloid leukemia (AML) models and in vitro using leukemia cell lines and showed that quercetin may induce apoptosis in part by decreasing Nrf2 nuclear translocation, inducing Nrf2 proteasomal degradation and downregulation of histone deacetylase HDAC4, which leads to up-regulation of pro-apoptotic miRNAs. Here, NFE2L2 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
