PDLIM7 and Epstein-Barr virus infection: Only one normal mucosa was positive for HPV, while three normal cases had epithelium positive for EBV; intramucosal lymphocytes were also occasionally positive for LMP1 protein (Figure 2B,D); however, although there was a significant difference in the incidence of HPV infection between CRC cases and controls (p = 0.0008), whereas there was no significant difference in EBV infection between CRC cases and controls (p = 0.99).
