Studies on the rat insulinoma cell line (INS-1) have shown that upon treatment with a dose of vaspin (80–320 ng/mL), the amount of mRNA for the insulin receptor substrate 2 (IRS-2) and the expression of IRS-2 total protein were higher compared to the group treated with palmitic acid, whereas its phosphorylated forms decreased. This evidence concerns the gene IRS2 and pancreatic insulinoma.
