Furthermore, we investigated the correlation between mRNA expression levels of KRT16 and the EMT-associated genes CDH1 and VIM. A significant positive correlation (R2 = 0.643, p = 0.018, Pearson’s r) was observed between CDH1 and KRT16. In order to extend these data at the protein level, we assessed the protein expression of K16 in different breast cancer cell lines presenting various breast cancer subtypes using western blot analysis. Here, KRT16 is linked to breast cancer.
