Cisplatin is one of the chemotherapeutic drugs most commonly used today for advanced HNSCC; a combination with Cetuximab (monoclonal antibody targeting EGFR) has been approved as first-line treatment for recurrent/metastatic HNSCC [5], representing, to date, the only targeted therapy approved for the treatment of HNSCC [5,6]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
