YAP/TAZ was shown to play a critical role in resisting a variety of targeted drugs [18], including erlotinib [20] and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (erlotinib, gefitinib, afatinib, and AZD8931) in lung cancer [21], and B-RAF inhibitor (vemurafenib) and MEK inhibitor (trametinib) in human melanoma, colon, and thyroid cancer cell lines [22]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and thyroid cancer.
