In 2019, avapritinib was approved for patients whose tumors have the IM-refractory PDGFRA exon 18 mutations [11] and, more recently in 2020, ripretinib [12,13], a switch control kinase inhibitor with broad spectrum activity against RTK inhibitor resistant mutations, was approved for the treatment of GIST refractory to standard therapies. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRA and gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
