S100A7 was initially identified and verified through a panel of five candidate protein biomarkers, namely S100A7, prothymosin alpha (PTMA), 14-3-3ζ, 14-3-3δ, and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (hnRNPK), by using proteomic approaches to distinguish oral lesions with dysplasia and oral cancers from normal oral tissues. The gene discussed is S100A7; the disease is lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
