The PROCARDIS study [38,39] describes two variants of the LPA gene (rs104558272 and rs3798220) more closely associated with increased Lp(a) levels, which playing a causative role in the development of coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction; recently, rs10455872 was also associated with an increased risk of aortic valve stenosis [38,39]. The gene discussed is LPA; the disease is myocardial infarction.
