SSB and neonatal lupus erythematosus: As such, and analogous to neonatal lupus, where anti-SSA and anti-SSB antibodies cross the placenta to cause manifestations such as rash and congenital heart block in newborns, it is plausible that similar antibodies against autoantigens crossed the placenta after a SARS CoV-2 infection and initiated MIS-N disease in these neonates.
