The mean site-specific concentrations of aMMP-8 and Lactoferrin were found to be significantly higher in deeper pockets (P) 1, 2, 3 and 4 (P1, P2, P3 and P4) compared to sulci (S) 1, 2, 3 and 4 (S1, S2, S3 and S4) in periodontitis patients (P = 0.002; Fig. 2a, b). This evidence concerns the gene LTF and periodontitis.
