We found no significant difference in progression to exudative AMD or risk of receiving an anti-VEGF injection in patients who took lipid-lowering medications prior to diagnosis after adjusting for age at index diagnosis of non-exudative AMD, sex, smoking, comorbidities from the Elixhauser Comorbidity Index, and use of anticoagulants, antihypertensives, or diuretics (Fig 1). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is age-related macular degeneration.
