Furthermore, by analyzing the expression characteristics of methyltransferase-related genes such as EZH2 and DNMT, we found that these genes were significantly altered in periodontitis patients, and that EZH2 was highly positively correlated with DNMT1 and DNMT3N, indicating that both DNA methylation and histone methylation may play an important role in periodontitis patients [28, 29]. This evidence concerns the gene EZH2 and periodontitis.
