Several inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein, interleukin-6 tumor necrosis factor alpha, sialic acid) and coagulation markers (prothrombin fragments 1+2, endogen thrombin generation, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and soluble VEGF-receptor 1) have been found at elevated levels in patients with GBM but no associations between these markers and overall survival (OS) or progression-free survival (PFS) were found (Reynés et al., 2011[51]).
