Adiponectin (ADIPOQ), fat mass and obesity associated-protein (FTO), leptin, leptin receptor, serum paraoxonase/arylesterase, and melanocortin receptor-4 are specific obesity-associated genes, which, when they have defects, have also been reported to be associated with BC risk (da Cunha et al., 2013[9]; Vona-Davis et al., 2007[37]; Stephenson and Rose, 2003[35]). Here, ADIPOQ is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
