Recently, pleiotropic effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), an incretin, have received attention not only for the benefit of GLP-1 analogues in management of diabetes9,10 but also for possible involvement in etiologies of various diseases including hepatic steatosis, renal failure and inflammatory bowel diseases11–13. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and Hepatic steatosis.
