In this cohort, the prevalence of anemia [based on the definition provided in 1968 by an expert committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) as a concentration of Hb <13 g/dl in adult men and <12 g/dl in adult non-pregnant women] was 38.1% (7,931) among 20,559 patients with AMI. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and anemia (phenotype).
