S-nitrosylation regulates protein activity of multiple proteins that play important roles in DKD, including all nitric oxide synthase (NOS) isoforms, guanylyl cyclase (GC), hypoxia-inducible factor1α (HiF1α), thioredoxin (20–23), as well as in cytoskeletal dynamics, such as actin and RhoA (24–26). Here, RHOA is linked to diabetic kidney disease.
