A frequent cytogenetic abnormality found in AML is chromosome 16 inversion, inv(16), which results in the production of a fusion protein comprising most of core-binding factor-β (CBFB, residues 1–165 of a total 187 residues) and myosin heavy chain 11 (MYH11) (Liu et al., 1993). Here, MYH11 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
