Studies in antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) and acute myocardial infarction have demonstrated that polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) can generate NETs and enhance thrombotic mechanisms by promoting the production of TF (Kambas et al., 2014; Stakos et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene TF and anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis.
