In general, biomarker levels are not as high in critically ill COVID-19 patients as those seen in septic shock or sepsis with ARDS [37, 38], but all authors have reported at least a moderate, if not strong, elevation in CRP, IL-6, and ferritin, which in context with the clinical picture has prompted them to initiate hemoadsorption.
