Elevated blood levels of inflammatory cytokines such as C-reactive protein (CRP) [11], Interleukin-6 (IL-6) [12, 13], IL-18 [14], IL-12 [15], tumor necrosis factor-α [16], and C–C chemokine ligand 2 (CCL-2) [17] were associated with poor outcome and increased mortality after stroke. Here, CRP is linked to stroke disorder.
