The second group of COVID-19 patients (denoted as group B) have strong suppression of Type I IFN response and an elevation of RN7SL2 and RN7SL1 genes collectively known as 7SL RNA, both connected to viral packing and trafficking (54, 55) and known to interact with the SARS-CoV-2 NSP8 and NSP9 proteins to impact viral trafficking to the cell membrane (56). The gene discussed is RN7SL2; the disease is COVID-19.
