Apart from being involved in TLR9 and TLR7 signaling in DCs, it was recently demonstrated that CatK produces cleaved TLR7 in vitro, and in Tregs implicating CatK in blocking Treg immuno-suppressive activity and in promoting the development of murine systemic lupus erythematosus-like manifestations (119) (Figure 2). This evidence concerns the gene TLR7 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
