During mitochondrial dysfunction caused by ischemic stroke (Lazarou et al., 2012; Wauer et al., 2015), the PINK1/Parkin pathway mediates the polyubiquitin of the functional or structural proteins in the damaged mitochondria (Riley et al., 2013; Trempe et al., 2013; Kumar et al., 2015; Okatsu et al., 2015b; Yamano et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene PINK1 and ischemic stroke.
