BECN1 and cerebral infarction: Mitochondrial autophagy can play a neuroprotective role by inhibiting apoptosis in the model of transient ischemia and hypoxia, in which the expression of Beclin-1 protein and the ratio of LC3-II/I is increased, while the expression of p62, TOM20, and HSP60 is decreased, and the progression of cerebral infarction is mild (Huang et al., 2016).
