PEG is widely used in many daily products including; cosmetics, drugs, lozenges, laxatives, food additives and rarely trigger hypersensitiv allergic reactions.[38–44] IgE-mediated hypersensitiv reactions and anaphylaxis have been reported to PEGs of different molecular weights and the majority of reactions are due to high molecular weight PEGs.[40, 42] Otherwise, PEG can trigger non-IgE dependent complement mediated mast cell activation through IgG or IgM. Here, IGHE is linked to anaphylaxis.
