A study by Yamazawa et al. revealed that among 386 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma, 93 had primitive phenotypes, and the primitive phenotype was embodied in the expression of the embryonic stem cell markers (SALL4 and CLDN6) and the oncofetal proteins AFP and Glypican-3(GPC3) by cancer cells [6]. This evidence concerns the gene GPC3 and gastric adenocarcinoma.
