Although metabolic memory is defined as the persistent deleterious effects of initial hyperglycemia on the development of diabetic vascular complications even after glucose normalization (Tallapragada et al., 2015; Luna et al., 2016), our data provide the first evidence for the existence of metabolic memory with altered BMSC functions and cytokine CXCL2 levels after the diet correction.
