The regulation of NF-κB and HIF-1α are particularly relevant to angiogenesis and eye diseases such as DR, DME and nvAMD, as inflammation induced via NF-κB and HIF-1α driven VEGF expression are key mediators responsible for retinal and choroidal neovascularization (CNV) [10,21,22], the abnormal blood vessel growth patterns that are characteristic of proliferative DR and nvAMD, respectively. Here, NFKB1 is linked to eye disorder.
