In our study, the expression of VCAM-1 and MMP-9 was increased in endothelial and subendothelial foam cells in the atherosclerotic group, especially in the SCD group, and the expression levels of VCAM-1 and MMP-9 in the atherosclerotic group were significantly higher than those in the CHD group, further suggesting that the increased expression of VCAM-1 and MMP-9 in the lesion could promote monocytes and other inflammatory cells to adhere to the endothelium, become activated and release a large number of inflammatory cytokines. This evidence concerns the gene VCAM1 and coronary artery disorder.
