SQSTM1 and infection: Furthermore, re-expression of SAC1 WT, but not SAC1 C389S or BFP, reduced the levels of NDP52+, SQSTM1+, and LC3+Salmonella in SACM1L KO cells at 2 h post-infection (Figures 2G–2I), revealing that SAC1 phosphatase activity is necessary for functional xenophagy.
