Given that SLUG can induce a partial EMT while SNAIL is likely to induce more of a complete EMT (48,58), these results together suggest that drug resistance can be achieved even through a partial EMT state, and that SNAIL and SLUG may follow different paths in the multi-dimensional EMT landscape, both of which can confer tamoxifen resistance to ER+ breast cancer cells. The gene discussed is SNAI1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
